New Legislative Budget Language Regarding the 2012 IECC Adoption:

Draft General Administration Proviso Request:

$________ of the State Building Code Council Account is provided solely for the State Building Code Council.  The funds, with respect to the Washington State Energy code (WSEC) adopted under RCW 19.27A.020, may only be used to transition to the 2012 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) with the following parameters: 1) 2012 IECC language adopted with  only minimal modifications to modify the residential and commercial tables to ensure final tables are equal to or better than the 2009 WESC; 2) no incremental increase in energy efficiency necessary this code cycle since the transition to the  2012 IECC results in energy efficiency expected by the legislature expected by 2013; and 3) the SBCC continue working with stakeholders on establishing an open, transparent code adoption processes, working on implementation and enforcement issues and developing cost and energy evaluation tools.
