For those who have not attended a WABO Quarterly meeting before, the Code Forum is a standing agenda item where participants discuss technical, process, administrative and other issues pertaining to the building code enforcement profession.  Now you can share your ideas for Code Forum topics before you get to the quarterly meetings via WABO’s interactive email server designed specifically to let you write down your Code Forum ideas before you forget them.

Building officials are problem-solvers by nature and want to help their communities by providing the best services possible.  To do that we need to learn from each other which is what the Code Forum is designed to do.  So, next time you have an issue that you think would be a good to discuss with your peers, e-mail us at [email protected] and we’ll be sure to add it to the Code Forum topic's list.

Code Forum Topics -  2018 Annual Business Meeting

  • Building reviewer – design professional relations.  What should the level of review be and what should happen if the RDP feels that the reviewer is requiring something that they feel is an engineering judgement?  If you disagree with an engineer on a specific design issue would you be OK suggesting a meeting w/ your boss to get to the right answer?  This was a topic at the WABO/SEAW Liaison Committee meeting on 12/11/17 meeting.
